I always thought I was busy before I became a mother… however now that I’m taking care of numerous errands and household chores, managing work and social commitments, as well as looking after children and their social commitments, I’m lucky if I can manage 5 minutes at the end of the day to have a quiet cup of tea before collapsing into bed.
I often find myself saying that I could do with a PA, so I was particularly excited to discover
MEL NZ, a personal assistant service that is designed to do much more than help manage your workload - to help you tackle YOUR to-do list as a busy mother, whether that means taking care of the grocery shopping, organizing someone to mow your lawns or doing your Christmas shopping.
Specializing in ‘managing everyday living’, MEL is a service you can use on an ad-hoc basis or to take care of regular errands or chores for you. They are based in Auckland, and some of the services they offer mean that they can only cater to the Auckland market, but other services are ‘virtual’ and they can take care of you no matter where you are in the country (which makes it very tempting to outsource that weekly grocery shopping and have it delivered!).
If you do live in Auckland, MEL offer a fabulous service via their weekly email – it’s free to subscribe and each week they offer a different service they can organize for you for just $10 (plus the cost of the actual goods or service). As a bonus, if you sign up during September or October you go in the draw to win a silver membership for 3 months valued at over $500!
Prices for MEL’s services vary, and some have a set price (you can contact them for a price list), and what we like most is that for services outside of their set fee schedule, they charge by the hour, but only the part of the hour actually used (so if something takes them 12 minutes, they only charge for 12 minutes!).
You can also purchase a gift certificate, which would make the perfect gift for a new mother, or for anyone you know who just needs to find some more time in their day (which I’m sure is all of us!).
