Quick and easy homemade ice-cream29 Febraury 2012 I have researched this recipe to try and find the original source, but I haven’t successfully found it. Maybe it’s the recipe of someone’s great, great grandmother or something. Maybe it falls into the same category as Macaroni Cheese (I know us kiwi’s would credit Edmonds, but I’m sure they weren’t the original creators!). Personally, I can credit Tash, from my mum’s work, who sent her home with this recipe and she passed it on. So thanks Tash – this one rocks! This one’s a great one to do with the kids – they can even contribute (decide/advise) on the special ingredient to make it their own! Ingredients 2 cups (500ml) fresh full cream milk 2 tsp vanilla extract 1 can (395g) condensed milk (I used the ‘lite’ version) 3 Cadbury Crunchie Bars, crushed (or other ‘special ingredient’, see below) Method Whip the cream and vanilla until soft peaks form (don’t over whip it!). Fold through the can of condensed milk and the crunchie bars (try not to lose any volume). Pour into a plastic container and freeze overnight. Done! Note, this recipe is REALLY sweet and rich. You will only want a little bit and it can be nicely balanced out with a bit of fruit (fresh berries went down a treat!). You can swap the Crunchie Bars for chopped up Moro Bars, a cup of frozen raspberries, chocolate chips, your favourite lollies, or anything you can think of really! |
