Lola’s room

Lola’s room has a feature wall paper of aquamarine, it goes so well with pink but doesn’t over power it either.

The wall decals are from StickyTiki, the Tui in the yard. It really makes a statement in the bedroom. The kids just love it and so do I.

The hanging seat is from IKEA in Germany and Lola sits in it quite frequently, listing to music, reading a book or swinging around in it. When sitting in it, the kids get a feeling of being in a cave, in there own little world, and sometimes Lola drapes a blanket around it to be totally enclosed.

The writing desk is from Offi (thanks to a babybites tip I got a bargain). Lola sits on there forever writing letters, drawing and reading. She can use this desk if her little brother annoys her and just shuts the door to get away from him. The bed and bedside table is from Harvey Normans and made in NZ out of solid pine. It took me a very long time to find the right bed. It is a king single and has enough room for me and the kids to lie in it to read books or be with Lola when she is not feeling well. I am hoping it will last her until she is a teenager. It really does pay to get a good quality bed as they do spend a lot of time in there.

The flower wall lamp is from IKEA. They have such neat and different stuff and can also be purchased

The bed quilt cover is from Wallace Cotton and really brightens up the room.

The dresser was $40, and covered in pink paint when I bought it. I stripped it right back and it looks just beautiful.

Lola loves to be creative and we always hang up her art works that she brings home from preschool or what we do at home. It gives the room a personal touch and the children feel very proud of their art works.

Finn’s cot and change table is from Touchwood, again a NZ made company. Being white, the cot and change table fit everys room décor. I use the change table now for Finn’s toys and for his nappies.

The wall decals are from StickyTiki, and feature a beach scene. Finn loves to count the fish and other animals and it gives us something to talk about on a daily basis. He now leaves the decals on the wall, but for a while, he used to take them off and stick them all over the place. So, they do really stick for a long time and you can move them around as often as you want.

Finn also has a hanging seat from IKEA although he usually uses Lola’s when she is around. He also likes to escape and hide at nappy time…

The blue hanging basket and the dragon hanging storage are both from IKEA. They are so easy to store away if you no longer need them and they are perfect for storing bits and pieces away.

The rocking sheep is from a second hand shop. I bought it when I was pregnant with Lola and it sat in the garage for 3 years. I finally got around to repainting it. I covered the seat with lambs wool to give the kids the feeling they are sitting on a real sheep…
